Upcoming Deadlines:

Housing
If you haven’t already applied for housing you should do so today. You can easily fill out the online application at: http://www.apsu.edu/housing/
Upon applying you will need to send your $200 pre-payment to ensure your application is processed. Soon after receipt of your pre-payment you will receive a lottery number for when you can choose your room & roommate. This number is dependant on when you apply.

Financial Aid
If you have not yet filled out your FASFA you should also do so immediately. This is how all Tennessee residents apply for the lottery scholarship & everyone applies for financial assistance. Soon after April 1 the Office of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs will mail out financial aid award letters. These letters will detail what forms of aid you will receive for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Important Information:

Summer Welcome
In late April, you will receive a letter from our New Student Programs Office which will tell you information & dates about Summer Welcome. Summer Welcome is our registration program for fall classes. During this program you will sit down with an advisor and choose your fall class schedule. There will be a variety of dates, but we encourage you to sit down with your parents immediately upon receiving this letter. Spaces are limited at each event, so RSVP quickly to insure you get the date of your choice. In early August, you will receive your invitation to Freshmen Orientation! This event takes place the weekend prior to school beginning and is required for all Freshmen. Information regarding Summer Welcome & Freshmen Orientation is only sent to admitted students, so complete your application today!

I hope that this information helps with questions you are starting to feel as your senior year comes to an end. I wish you the best of luck with graduation and if you still have questions don’t hesitate to contact us by phone at: 1-877-861-2778 or email us at: admissions@apsu.edu

Snow Days

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Old man winter can’t seem to make up his mind on whether or not we are going to get a good snow; however, he is doing his part for all students out there. In the past few weeks there have many school cancellations due to snow days. There hasn’t been enough snow to go outside and build a snowman or sled down a hill, so that you gives you the perfect time to apply to Austin Peay if you haven’t already! Use some of that extra time to submit your application and don’t forget to request your transcript and test scores from the guidance counselor whenever you return to school.

Here at Austin Peay there may not be as many snow days as there are at high schools but we do get some! For information on whether or not Austin Peay is closed due to inclement weather you can always consult our main website at:

http://www.apsu.edu

Have any fun snow day stories you want to share? Go ahead, I would love to hear them!

Ho . . . Ho . . . Holidays!

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I am sure that many students out there are enjoying their first day of Holiday break or perhaps counting down the days until Holiday break begins. I just wanted to remind you that we are still open, well for right now anyways! Take the time you have off and come by for a campus tour or make an appointment with your admissions counselor. We are always here to help!

That being said I do want to share our holiday schedule with you so that you know when we are available and when we are not. Austin Peay will be open all this week and will be closed December 24th through December 30th for the Holiday season. We will be open on December 31st, but will be closed for New Year’s Day on January 1st. The regular schedule will continue on January 2nd.

I hope that all of you have a great Holiday season and enjoy the break from school, work, and everyday life. Wishing you tidings of comfort and joy and hopefully a happy holiday season!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to write this blog for those of you out there that haven’t heard about our scholarship update. Our freshman academic scholarships at Austin Peay are now awarded on a first come, first serve basis to those who qualify. The requirement for scholarships are a 3.0 GPA and a 23 on the ACT. These scholarhships start at $500 and can increase up to $6,000! That is a lot of dough, especially when it is renewed over the next four years.

If APSU is on your list of schools I would highly encourage you to go ahead and apply for admission, once you are admitted to Austin Peay you will be automatically awarded the scholarship money you qualify for. How easy is that? Be sure to get your application, official transcript and ACT/SAT scores, and your $15 application fee into us today; because once the money is gone it’s gone!

Any questions about scholarships? Let me know and I will get back to you ASAP!

Go Where YOU Want

Long time, no post! I have been really busy and I have been traveling all over the state of Tennessee recruiting future Govs and have let my blogs fall behind, sorry about that. I have really enjoyed getting to be on the road though and I have made some really great friends at other schools across the state of Tennessee and that is what inspired me to write this post. So many times when I am on the road recruiting I see groups of friends that are determined to go to the same school. While I understand that leaving the comfort of high school is a scary thing it is sooo important for you to make the decision about where you want to go to school on your own. You shouldn’t let your boyfriend/girlfriend, BFF, or your parents make this decision for you.

College is the first step you take into becoming a responsible, independent adult. It should be a decision you made and one that you feel completely sure about. Just like I have made friends at other schools you will be able to have friends at other schools too. Just because your best friend goes to another school doesn’t mean that you have to end the friendship, it just means the friendship will change. So when you are looking at schools there is only one thing you should think about: Is this where YOU want to go?

Remember, Go Where YOU Want!

Let’s Go Peay!
