College Visits
Friday, February 13th, 2009For the next few weeks, my fellow recruiters and I will be finishing up our spring travel season. Many of our visits are lunch visits in which we set up a display table in a high school cafeteria. This is a great chance for juniors and seniors to come up and talk to us, not only about our school, but about college in general. Many Admissions Counselors attended the university that they are representing, so they serve as an excellent contact when looking at schools.
As Seniors and Juniors in high school, there are a few things you can do to prepare for a college recruiter visit to your school. Pay attention to the signs posted up in your school’s hallways so that you know which university is visiting. If it is a university that you think you might be interested in, you might go home (or to your Counseling office) and do a little research about the university. Think up some questions to ask the recruiter; some good basic questions are “Do you have a ______ program?” “How much is tuition?” “What is campus life like?” “What are your deadlines?” “What are some ways I can get involved on your campus?” Don’t be afraid to come up and ask us questions! We want to tell you about our school!
