My how time flys . . .

This post is a little bit more personal, but I think that I can tell you from my college experience how great college will be for you.

Today is May 25 and this time last year I was on a plane on the way to Greece with a study abroad program. How cool? I spent five weeks traveling throughout the country and islanding hopping. Class happened at about 11 every morning for an hour on the roof top garden of our hotel. Then we were off to site see, shop, eat, and have tons of fun - like jumping off 20 foot cliffs into the Mediterranean Sea and horse back riding on the beaches of Naxos. These are some of my most fond memories and it was an experience that I would never trade for anything. Especially as I sit here today in the real world thinking about “the good ole days”, you know the ones that didn’t involve an 8 to 4:30 schedule.

In those five weeks I was able to have lots of fun, gain lots of self confidence and all while earning college credit. Study Abroad is just one of the many options that are available for you when you come to college. There are so many other things about college that have shaped me into the person that I am today and it is one of the most amazing times of your life. I look back now and I wouldn’t trade those 4 years for anything and I probably should have been on the 5 year plan even though my Dad probably wouldn’t agree.

Austin Peay State University is a great stepping stone for shaping you and your future. You will learn more about the world and most importantly about yourself in college than you ever will any where else. I challenge you to make the most of your four years. Yes, you are here to get an education, but be sure to push yourself to grow in other ways too. Live on campus, go to class, make new friends, spend time hanging out in the UC, watch the Gov’s play. I promise that all of things will end up being the fondest memories of your life. I know that my college memories are some of my fondest!
